About the Project

Tamor Khola-5 Hydropower Project (“TK5HP”) is a 46.9 MW capacity run-of-river hydropower project. The project is being developed by River Side Hydro Energy (Pvt.) Ltd. (RSHEPL). The project is located in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality of Taplejung district, Province 1 of Nepal. TK5HP utilizes the discharge of Tamor river, which is a major tributary of Sapta Koshi river.

Geographically the project area is located between longitude 87⁰ 47’ 01’’ E to 87⁰ 48’ 33’’ E and latitude 27⁰ 30’ 25’’ N to 27⁰ 31’ 48’’ N. Physiographically, the project area belongs to the High Mountains of the Higher Himalayas. The upper catchment of Tamor River includes the zone of snow and glacier.

­The Tamor River basin comprises of different physiographic regions, namely High Himalaya, High Mountains and Middle mountains. More than 80% of the basin catchment lies in the High Himalayas and High Mountain regions and the remaining 20% lies in the Middle Mountains
